Dogs of Summer

Sing along time: (apologies to Don Henley: Boys of Summer)

“The Dogs Of Summer”

Pawprints on the road
Pawprints on the beach
Wet dog smell in the air
The dog went to the beach
Doggie break, doggie treat
The fun goes down as we roam
If you went to his house
He was out and not home

But you can see him-
Wet black fur shinin’ in the sun
He’s got his hair matted back and his tongue out baby
And he’ll tell you even though summer’s gone, his fun isn’t done
After the dogs of summer have gone

We will never forget the sight
Soon it will be a dream
Chasin critters while sun was blazin
Now we do it all by moon beam
Now it gets dark quick and we will have to wear gloves
But hey, fun will always be back
And we’ll see what dog fun is made of

But you can see him-
Wet black fur shinin’ in the sun
He’s got his hair matted back and his tongue out baby
And he’ll tell you even though summer’s gone, his fun isn’t done
After the dogs of summer have gone

Out in the yard today, saw a toad hopping after a fly like a maniac
Dad’s voice got really loud and he said “Leave it alone. Let’s go get you a bone.”
We went in and watched tv
What was the show?
Something about whatever
Just in, but want out again-

But you can see him-
Wet black fur shinin’ in the sun
He’s got his hair matted back and his tongue out baby
And he’ll tell you even though summer’s gone, his fun isn’t done
After the dogs of summer have gone`

But you can see him-
Wet black fur shinin’ in the sun
He’s got his tongue hanging out and his hair matted baby
And he’ll tell you even though summer’s gone, his fun isn’t done
After the dogs of summer have gone
(fade out)
